  • New Entry-Level Ultra Wide Screen 48" 16:3 Aspect Ratio PIS and Dynamic Route Map Display

Bangkok - November 15, 2016 - The new DG-DRM48-LITE entry-level onboard PIS and Dynamic Route Map Display features dual Ethernet ports with HW relay passthrough for interfacing with other onboard systems. Contrary to the legacy approach of a coach computer connecting to multiple displays using HDMI-over-RJ45 the DG-DRM48-LITE can display from its own local storage rich content including static, changing, animations and PIS information without streaming over Ethernet. This reduces network bandwidth requirements and latencies. Control takes place directly from an onboard PIS server using only one 10/100Mbit port of the Consist Network Ethernet switch. Cabling is simplified due to the series-connected Ethernet.

The DG-DRM48-LITE integrates a low-power graphics control processor with proprietary Firmware. An integrated conduction cooled 150W output power 1500VDc isolated railway power supply design enables direct powering from a 110VDc train feeder. Temperature monitoring, combined with display power and brightness control, ensures the LCD display will not be thermally stressed and over temperature warning or diagnostics data can be reported to main train systems.

Application software development is accelerated using leveraging the internal Firmware and available content creation tool chain. Stored content can be updated over onboard ETBN at the depot. The DG-DRM48-48 is engineered and designed for railway applications, certified to all mandatory standards including EN50155 and EN50121.

  • New Intelligent Ultra Wide Screen 48" 16:3 Aspect Ratio PIS and Dynamic Route Map Display System

Bangkok - November 5, 2015 - Launched at the Smart Rail Asia 2015 Exhibition and Congress in Bangkok 25-27.11, the DG-DRM48 redefines the visual experience and the way onboard PIS systems such as Dynamic Route Map Displays are integrated with other onboard systems. Contrary to the legacy approach of a coach computer connecting to multiple displays using VGA-DVI repeaters and signal splitters, the DRM48 is fully autonomous in displaying rich content including static, changing, animations and PIS information. Control is possible directly from onboard signaling systems with interfaces such as GBIT Ethernet, MVB or isolated RS-485. Cabling is simplified and the HD-quality (1920 x 358) graphics is not compromised by cable loss or disturbance or inferior grade analog display drive. Train builders and Systems Integrators can offer a new level of customer experience and create systems which are easy to integrate and maintain.

Any number of DG-DRM48 systems can be interconnected in one coach. In the case of MVB being used, one DRM48 in the coach can operate in Gateway-Master mode with its upstream MVB interface, while downstream displays in the coach can connect to the Master with multi-drop isolated RS-485. This reduces cabling costs and removes the need to use a dedicated PIS gateway. Other RS-485 connected devices can connect to this downstream bus.

The DG-DRM48 integrates a low-power i.MX6 processor with Linux OS and Firmware, internal Flash storage for media and display content, communication interfaces, and an optional 3G modem as well as 802.11n WiFi. An integrated conduction cooled 150W output power 1500VDc isolated proprietary railway power supply design enables direct powering from a 110VDc train feeder. Temperature monitoring, combined with display power and brightness control, ensures the LCD display will not be thermally stressed and over temperature warning or diagnostics data can be reported to main train systems.

Application software development is accelerated using leveraging the internal Firmware and available content creation tool chain. Stored content can be updated using the integrated WiFi interface at the depot. Dragontech and local integration partners will be able to interface to protocols of various signaling systems using MVB, Ethernet or isolated Serial RS-485. The DRM48 is engineered and designed for railway applications, certified to all mandatory standards including EN50155 and EN50121.
